Design and execution of a collective housing project

ON THE FLANKS OF THE VALLEY

SINT-GENESIUS-RODE, BE

The unique project site is situated on a slope in the green belt south of Brussels, overlooking a picturesque valley and several churches of the town. We propose a compact clustering of housing units to preserve the generous vistas towards the valley. The houses are dug into the sloping terrain to integrate them as much as possible into the context but also to ensure a view over the landscape for every unit. The houses on the upper floor have a roof terrace overlooking the village, below there are spacious private gardens that blend into a large collective garden.

Future inhabitants will profit from different collective amenities, like a communal entrance that leads to the individual houses, a large welcoming canopy and a collective parking hidden in the green slope. Every housing unit has a spacious private outdoor space, which is supplemented by the collective landscaped garden. This garden integrates several shared amenities, such as a swimming pool, a barbecue area and a tennis court, but also includes collective sustainable facilities such as a stormwater retention basin. Luxury living in the middle of a unique collective landscape.
