Making a tourist reception plan

LAND OF MARSHES AND LAKES

BERLARE, BE

The project area of the tourist reception plan consists of a series of zones, which are sometimes known individually but lack coherence and are not known as a whole. Yet, these sites are all linked by the underlying landscape, made up of two former river arms of the river Scheldt. Recreational and touristic opportunities are missed because of this lack of coordination.

By joining forces and developing one overall vision, brand and reception plan, all municipalities and actors involved can work together to enhance the recreational and touristic possibilities of the region. The reception plan aims to develop the project area into a coherent network park, which emphasizes the common identity of the Scheldt landscape and seeks to maximize synergies.

The recreational and touristic landscape is unraveled into a series of layers. Points of interest are assessed and optimized for each layer. The network of recreational routes through the area is enhanced and tailored to the landscape. Thus creating the network park “Land of Marshes and Lakes”. A common brand ensures a clear and recognizable communication.
